Presentation

    The study area of the Post-Graduate Program in Science and Mathematics Education (PPGEdCM-Ar) is Science and Mathematics Teaching, which comprises investigations of problems related to the teaching and learning process of Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences and Mathematics and its context, considering the peculiarities of scientific and mathematical knowledge and being concerned with the way in which this knowledge has been disseminated and publicized. It articulates knowledge of specific areas of Natural Sciences and Mathematics with knowledge of Human Sciences, using theoretical-methodological contributions from Education and Didactics of Science.

    The Master's Course in Science and Mathematics Education aims to:

    1. Foster the training of researchers who develop their academic competence at the stricto sensu postgraduate level, improving and advancing in the production of scientific knowledge related to the field of Science Education, preferably in the Teaching of Natural Sciences and Mathematics;
    2. Strengthen the development of research that deepens either in scientific knowledge in the area of science teacher training, or in scientific knowledge about teaching and learning processes in Science and Mathematics, considering the perspective of communication between these lines of research;
    3. Contribute to the expansion of intellectual training, through scientific research, of graduate professionals who are, or intend to act as university professors in the field of Science Education, preferably in the Teaching of Natural Sciences and Math.

    Therefore, the master’s course in Science and Mathematics Education aims to train professionals who work in Science and Mathematics Teaching in Basic or Higher Education; acting in formal and non-formal spaces of education; scientific dissemination, and in Research in Science and Mathematics Education.
